There is one record label that I go around telling people about that I really, truly admire. AND its sort of part of a subsidiary of a major label, and I still admire. It’s called Nonesuch Records – just look at their artists. Just look. Anyways, where did the name come from? It couldn’t be the onebigbreastinthemiddleofherchest Nonesuch, could it? Maybe just a Twain reference in general.

Anyways, as more proof of their admirability, they started a blog. And they call it a journal. Read this post called “The Myth of Discovery,” it echoes sentiments I have grappled with for a long time, and probably will continue to do so. I have to believe that the cream rises – if I didn’t, then I’m in the wrong business. There is no compromise and there shouldn’t be, and to hear this from Robert Hurwitz, the 20+ year president of the label, it’s, well…nice.

Whoever you are, wherever you’ve been, you’ve come this far, well come on in!
